We didn't really know what to expect going to Bogota, other than it being colder than where we arrived from. We came to find a sprawling city in the highlands of Colombia with larger than life street art and a dark intriguing history. Sometimes the 2 were even intertwined. It's on my list now...

Thank you, we definitely recommend Bogota - especially the graffiti tour. To be honest the whole of Colombia is amazing :)

Love the graffiti!
Really talented street artists there, and how great that they've managed a system to discourage taggers. The paintings that touched me most deeply were those painted to commemorate missing homeless people--brilliant idea. I dislike a big police presence, but at least now we get to visit this amazing country. Not so long ago, no one would think of going. Trade-offs, but I'm so glad you both enjoyed your stay and got a glimpse of the underbelly of the city that people had warned you against.

Re: Love the graffiti!..
The art work here was incredible, there is a definitely a sense of community and family there. Yes, a few years ago lot of places were definitely no-go areas, even for the police, whereas know it's a lot safer - other than petty crime but you get that in most capitals. We're glad we went, we wish'd we had more time there to explore more.

Street Art a glimpse of the culture
The reason we travel instead of sitting at home and reading about it is so we can see the wonderful daily life, street art and enjoy other travelers. Sounds like this leg of the trip was enjoyable but colder.

We enjoyed the many faces of Bogota especially the inspirational artwork but yes we had to wrap up very warm for this leg.
