On my trip to Medellin, I went to Plaza Botero, is located in an area known as the "Old Quarter of Medellin". In the area there is a lot of informal commerce, you can buy souvenirs to give away, you can buy various reminders of the park, you can take nice photos. I bought some curious souvenirs.... read more

Last January I went to Medellín, the City of Eternal Spring, and I visited some interesting places with my mom. I want to talk you about Arví Park, it is an ecological nature preserve and Pre-Hispanic archaeological site on the eastern slopes of Aburrá Valley in Medellín Antioquía. There are two ways to get to Arví Park, one is by subway and the other by car. I went through the metro, the metro can be taken from the center of medellín and it takes about 45 minutes to arrive: It arrives at the Santo Domingo Savio station (Line K), and then you have to take the metrocable called Arví Cable. When we arrived, there were several guides, who tell you where to go. There are several types of trips through the park, one is with guide ... read more

I had two day trips planned for my four night stay in Medellin. I decided to take the first of these to a well preserved colonial town called Santa Fe de Antioquia on Monday - am still having problems with my feet and they needed a rest! Got to the right bus terminal via the metro OK but when I saw that there were more than 50 counters selling tickets nearly turned tail and fled. However a helpful young man at the ‘punto de información’ pointed me in the right direction and I was soon getting on the bus. All very simple and straightforward. There are so many people checking your ticket that it would be difficult to get on the wrong one and they even put the bus's registration number on your ticket. A succession ... read more

... read more

As usual, so much as happened since the last blog. From going to Peter's house party and hanging out at Jeffery's apartment on a Friday night to sightseeing. We went to see Manuela (she is Juliana's sister) sing at her schools annual English song festival - she sang one of Rihana's song and sang very well - am so happy for her because she won out of 17 contestants. On the 16th, we went to El Penon and Guatape, at el penon, we climbed the rock - 649 stairs, yeah I did it but it was very tiring but once at the peak - the view is stunning, plus we got a very cold beer from some guy from Spain once we got to the peak. Later on we went to Guatape and took a boat ... read more

We had read about a nice Colonial town of Santa Fe de Antioquia, only a short distance from Medellin but at a lower altitude (600m) so we were in for some warmer weather. On depature from the bus (we were the only two to get off) it just looked like another town and I was a bit worried of my choice of option. But it couldn´t have turned out any better. I wandered around in the heat looking for a hostel we had seen a sign for in Medellin. It was here that I discovered the old part of town, cobbled streets, the lovely architecture a nice large town square with a few bars and music coming out of them. I finally found Hostal Sweet Home and had to quickly race back to Deb, who I ... read more
