Up late. Good breakfast. We left our bags for Mum and Pas to take to check in. Paul and I and the kids walked down the (steep!) hill to the center of town to a park. The kids rented little scooters and drove around the park. They had lots of fun. Then we had to walk to the Princess Cruise check-in, which was in a different location than the ship.

Finding Muelle Baron, where we could check in, was not easy. We had a long walk along the waterfront - past the wholesale fruit market - but the doc area was all fenced off. Finally found a way in by going through the railway station, across the tracks, to where the trucks were entering and exiting the station. Tried to go out to Muelle Baron first, but it was just a historic site. Then found our way in. M&P had already checked in. We followed suit, then we all got on a bus and were driven to the ship. Check out our (small) staterooms.

Left the ship again to wander Valparaiso. Took funicular up, up the hill. Then made small walking tour of old town. Some restoration work going on. Many still dilapidated buildings. We were followed by two stray dogs. Beautiful views. Warm, getting hot.

Funicular down again, then looked for bottle shop. Found nothing. The kids and I waited at the harbour for Paul and Pas to look some more. They found some wine.

Back to ship. A little exploring, then we stood on the stern to watch the departure. Tug helped pull us out. Very smooth seas. Amazing.

Good first dinner. After meal, Paul, the kids, and I bundled up and went to the top deck. Windy but so smooth. Saw Southern Cross. Watched water wash over edges of swimming pools. Then, to bed.
