Next morning a trip over Lagos los Santos to Peulla. The mosquitos were sleeping and so was Misael. I was just in time to reach the boat with a retour ticket for 22.000 pesos which I would not use going to Bariloche. On the boat I met Pablo who wanted to go to Puerto Bles on the same route ´Cruce Andino´. The boat left late. We arrived in Peulla a quarter to one. The village and the boats all are part of one company so everything is expensive. Nobody could tell us when the boat we had to take on the Argentinian side left. So we went on the bike in a very nice valley of the river of Peulla. The only bad thing about it all were the black flies. You will not find it ... read more

A dawn call followed by a taxi trip to the bus station in Bariloche to join the great unwashed backpackers waiting for buses to various destinations ( a photo of a small group is shown here to remind Laura of her travels!) After a chaotic check in we were assigned a bus to drive to a local port to catch a catamaran to Puerto Blest - a magnificent cruise between the mountains of the Andes (Sud). Our group were offloaded in a National Park to take a short trk to see a 500 year old tree! and waterfalls and a lake! Then to lunch at the Port Hotel which we declined onm the basis of the photographs of their finest plates! I was up, packed, and on the bike by 7am this morning as I had to make it to the ferry by 9.30 and it was 25kms away. Five minutes on the bike and I was feeling the cold, by the time I´d ridden 2km my legs and feet were completely numb and when I pulled into the ferry terminal ... the very empty ferry terminal ... I was so cold I could barely get off the bike. Turns out it only takes an hour and a half to get to the terminal, even with a cold headwind, so (as the nice security guard informed me) I had a two hour wait until the ferry left.
