Teleton is a charity that runs centers for disabled children, and every year they have huge celebrations and concerts and things to get people donating. I went to the concert this last weekend and it was GREAT! the stadium was packed and two of my favorite Chilean bands played- Chancho En Piedra and La Noche. There were also humor performances, videos, and several other bands and singers (one of them was a young woman who was a child of Teleton). very sorry for the quality of the videos.... I was holding the camera up over the crowd and it was really hard to keep still especially when the crowed was dancing or anything cause it was so packed. Also I believe I may have had my thumb over the mic (which is on the bottom of ... read more

got my new pendrivey thing so here are some pictures from a little while back when I had a few friends over for some vegerian cooking. Jovi and her boyfriend Sebastían are both vegetarians also, and Nati and Kim were honorary vegetarians for the evening. We cooked Falafel (that mom mailed me from the US), veggie stir fry, empanadas and M&M brownies. It was all very good, especially the empanadas, they were filled with cheese, mushroom and onion and came out DELICIOUS! Unfortunately however we had some oven issues and overcooked the brownies... and had to kind of hack them out of the pan... but that did lead to a very fun brownie bit fight and catching burnt tidbits in our mouths and whatnot. ... read more

We´ve had an amazing week in Bolivia and just arrived in Chile, our third country so far. We started our adventure in Bolivia in the capital, La Paz. A very busy and hectic city - too much so for A. Women in local dress - including bowler hats - make up the majority and gringos the minority. The highlight of La Paz was probably watching the new James Bond film as by happy coincidence, it is mainly set in Bolivia. The reactions of the Bolivian audience, particularly to the overweight cop demanding ´documentos por favor´from Daniel Craig, was hilarious and a real treat. We then journeyed south over very bad roads and then via a spotlessly clean train to Uyuni, a tourist town in the middle of the desert which services the gringos wishing to take ... read more

The Atacama was another amazing place to visit. Just as with the Salt Plains the pictures can describe it better than I can but they dont do the place justice. It was amazing. Getting there was interesting. We had heard that there were strikes going on in Chili and that those that worked at the border crossing might not show up and we may be stuck in the desert in Bolivia until they came into work. Not a perfect situation but we are a little ahead of schedule so we would have been ok. As it turns out, it was not a strike at all but a movie being filmed, actually, we heard a German mini-series but who knows if that is true. When we got to the border we had noticed a huge American Flag, ... read more

Sorry for the long time between blog entries here... a friend accidentally broke my thumbdrivey thing that i use to transfer pictures from my memory cards... But she got me a new one so as soon as I´ve got that there will be another update... nothing really terribly exciting has happened... oh, except for one BIG thing! I´ve extended my stay here, and will be back to the states in May instead of January. I miss you all back home lots and lots and love you, but it´ll just be a little bit longer till we see eachother again. :) -Why did I decide to stay? Lots and lots of reasons (and there were lots of reasons to come home that made it a hard decision), but among those are that Im having an amazing time ... read more

Lifes a beach and then you sit on one!! Have you ever seen a desert, no the kind that has chocolate sprinkles on top. The one where there isn´t much H2O around, well our journey through to Bahia Inglesa followed the edge of the Atacama (driest place on earth), past Copiapo. A town where mining is big, perhaps more popular than in the Neath valley, where a huge proportion of Chile´s natural resources are brought to the surface. As you can imagine Copiapo is dry, dusty, feisty and quite frankly rather ugly. Strangely it seemed to have an abnormally high population of 'lady boys'some of who joined us for the rest of our bus journey, with their vanity cases and loud pumping house music through their ipods. However our destination was far more picturesque, it is ... read more

San Pedro de Atacama yesterday, after a very early morning wake-up call, by 4am I was already in a bus on my way to Tatio Geysers Field (which is located at 4,200 meters above sea level about 100km away from San Pedro de Atacama & with over 80 active geysers, El Tatio is the largest geyser field in the southern hemisphere and the third largest field in the world, after Yellowstone, USA, and Dolina Giezerov) already on the road after an hour or so it got quite cold, but I thought that the driver most likely has turned down the heating... well, some time later the reason why it got so cold has been revealed once We've reached the "ticket office" close to the geysers - it was minus 12.5 degrees Celsius!!! I've tried to "work ... read more

I'm in San Pedro de Atacama (Chile)... After I've received my passport back from the embassy, the very same day I've moved on and headed direction Salta. It took me about 21 hours on the bus to get there (I start disliking bus trips... but 20 hours on the bus are still better then 20 hours on the plane... ). And although me going north was with the idea, that the more north I get, the warmer it's going to be. But somehow it didn't work that way - Salta greeted me with winds and rain for the first 2 days I was there. However, on the third it cleared up and I've decided to take a trip to Cachi, a small town south of Salta. To get there you have to "survive" a road with ... read more

...and due to popular request (and a hilarious immitation by my mom and Rhian of my friends and me posing for pictures) there are also some pictures from around the house and whatnot. Most of these are just some everyday life sorts of pictures... there are some pictures in my room, some pictures of friends at lunch hour at school, and a few of Chicha. There are some puppy pics too... so here´s an update on the pups if anyone´s interested: -As they are old enough now, Luna has become "Noa" and gone to a new home with my friend Neura (Caro... i know, its difficult for me to keep track too, everyone has about 5 different names!). -Estrellita was unfortunately attacked by two pitbulls, and I spent a few of the scariest moments of my ... read more
