The site we got kicked out of - El camping de donde nos echaron
Yes that suitcase is mine... I guess I'm not the world's best camper!
Together with aunt Wilma and her family we planned to go camping to a tiny village about 2 and 1/2 hours north of La Serena called Punta de Choros.
As we didn't fit in aunt Wilma's car, we made our own way there in a rickety minibus, and as only the first 2 hours are paved... well we were covered in dust by the time we got there (talk about a spray tan!).
We had arranged to meet up with aunt Wilma and co when we got there, problem was that she left much later than us and unbeknown to us there was no mobile phone signal to arrange where and when to meet. Before leaving, she told us to go to a campsite, she said, there are 2 campsites in the village, go to the one that charges £3 per person. Well, what she didn't know was that since she had last been at least 6 other campsites had sprung up. We went to one that charged £3 that was by the sea. The owner, a middle-aged lady, was very pleasant, but what I found a little bit weird was that she said that
she doesn't like to have families in her campsite, she just likes young people, so they can make as much noise as they want, I thought ok fair enough, so we asked her if we could wait for my family there and she said it was fine.
My aunt and her family turned up after about an hour, from here on it all becomes a bit of a blur as it was a little chaotic. Basically we told the lady we might stay, the woman, surprisingly, said ok. My uncle and Juan Eduardo went to look to see if there was a better campsite around (the pitch that we wanted actually smelt of pee) and Aunt W, Seba, Andy and I waited there. As we waited the lady angrily marched over to us saying she was kicking us out as she doesn't want “our sort of people” in her skanky campsite. Arrrrgh, I was so mad at her! Apparently she got mad as we used her toilet without even registering our names, we offered to pay for the toilet use (which stank quite badly, had no soap or loo roll), but she just wanted us out... niiiiiiiiiiice 😊 I
couldn't believe we had been kicked out of such an awful campsite... me?!?! Sensible square Carla??? (As Andy tells me so anyway). I guess everyone else with me was a bit nuts hehe.
Ok, so we headed off and all camping sites were full! In the end we ended up renting a hut, thank God! Cos it was VERY cold and sooooooo windy, I couldn't stop being thankful for having proper shelter.
The next day we went to a small island about 30 minutes from Punta de Choros called “Isla Damas”. The weather wasn't amazing, it was very cloudy and a bit cold, but the journey to the island was so beautiful, it completely made up for it. We saw sea-lions, penguins and dolphins. Isla Damas was beautiful too, it had white sands and turquoise waters.
We headed back to La Serena later that day, we were originally planning to stay 2 night instead of just the one, but it was such a tiny town that there wasn't much to do, it had a beautiful beach but unfortunately we didn't get the weather for it. We still had an amazing time going to Isla Damas and obviously
Happy Andy - Andy feliz
I think he is also glad we're not camping in the cold.
Creo que tambien estaba contento de no acampar con frio spending time with the Nuñes Segovia family.

He definitely wanted to camp!
Fishermen - Pescadores
With the freshly caught seafood.
Con los locos recien sacados. punga …. yo?? Carla tan sensata???
