San Pedro
San Pedro - Hostel Eden San Pedro is the most chilled out place in the world so far!!
After getting off the coach, we sorted a room in Hostel Eden then headed straight out to the dunes for half a day of sand boarding. Walking up the dunes it felt like my heart was going to jump out of my throat, it was crazy difficult, but the short thrill on the trip down was worth it. I felt like a kid on a slide again, getting to the bottom and running back up to the top for the ride to begin again!! When I stopped to take in the view at the top, and catch my breath, you could see a Mars like landscape. The wind whipped the sand off the top of the ridge ensuring the top always formed a peak. the mountains looked like huge fossilized dinosaurs laid to rest.
After the sun had dropped we headed up to the rocks to drink Pisco Sours and watch the sun set, then we headed out for dinner. The Chileans won't serve alcohol unless there is food on the table, so we ate well that night!
The next day was a chill day,
San Pedro - Hammock of Eden
San Pedro - Hammock of Eden trying to sort out the next stage of my trip and catching up on emails etc. in the evening we sampled some of the best steaks outside of Argentina all washed down with some very fine Chilean wine. At 10pm we got a bus to an observatory and had a star gazing tour. We looked through 10 or so telescopes and witnessed the stars close up. My favourite was a burning star which looked like a constant firework burning in the night's sky, there was also a galaxy made up of billions of stars which was pretty cool. I saw about 10 shooting stars. It was amazing!!!
My final day in San Pedro before getting the bus to Santiago in the evening was spent with Shaun and Merin. We cycled the 40 km round trip to a salt lagoon. Much like the dead sea you float, it's really crazy!!
Bye San Pedro, its been emotional!! :-( x
