So we (me and barak) got to chile (chile chico, quite
a long time ago) and we only had transportation the
day after, so we tried our luck with hitchhiking - and
it worked, after about 15 minutes we got picked by the
only jew in town! we had a pretty interesting
conversation (some in hebrew) and he dropped us off at
some remote village (puerto bertrand) that barely has
1 minimarket, but the bus we wanted go through. it
started raining, and where we were about to camp we
found a deserted shed (zrif) so we gave up on putting
the tent and just got in it and slept there (for a
very long time because it was raining and we had
nothing better to do)... in the morning we took the
bus to a next village (villa cerro castillo), walked
around a little and randomly met Luis from the BsAs
couchsurfing group... the next morning we got a ride
with an italian couple to the only city in the area -
cohayque (probably mispelled) and stayed in a
hospedaje that was run by a really nice family. we
spent 2 days there waiting for the bus, trying to get
a ride and not doing much except arrangements and
practicing our spanish with the hospedaje family (the
last night the daughter even cooked for us amazing
meat, finally some good food in chile...). We took the
bus to Poiayque (again, mispelled), got some food and
hitched back to the hanging glacier national park
(with a chilean family that spent their vacaion in a
bus) where we spent the night. In the morning we went
up to the observation point, and just when we got
there it started raining. We went back, waited for the
rain to stop and then took a bus north (to villa santa
lucia) and they agreed to keep us on it just because
nobody with tickets got on on the next stations...
from there we were lucky enough to wait jst about half
an hour to the next bus to Futalefu. We spent the
night there and on the next day we went rafting o Rio
Futalefu that is considered one of the best in the
world - it was terribly expenssive but was definately
fun. From there we were happy to go back to Argentina.
To sum up this episode, I can say that there was
nothing that I liked in Chile more than Argentina
(maybe because I only saw a quite remote part of it) -
everything is harder, more expessive and the people
weren't as cool. So I decided that I don't wanna go
back to Chile and spend as much time as I can in
Argentina.
We got to Esquel in Argentina, where I said goodbye to
Barak, because he had already seen this area and hung
around with a couple of Israeli gys met on the bus.
We spent 2 days in a really cool and laid back hostel
near El Bolson, and then I moved on to Bariloche to
another really cool hostel, but with a lot of
Argentinians an no Israelis... Then I spent 1 day in
San Martin, that i didn't like and took a horrible bus
ride to BsAs to meet Shay. After a day we finally
managed to meet, and hung around the city for a while
- mostly arrangemets, that didn't really go well so it
was kinda useless again (but it was good finally
meeting shay! you should all come to south america
😊... Then we took the bus to Puerto Iguazu, and yes,
the falls are as beautiful as everybody say... A few
days ago we crossed to Brazil, saw the falls from the
other side, and now we are struggling with our
portugese (current location - couchsurfing in Sao
Paulo).
