Oy!!

Ok, so this is the second entry that i've made to my blog, am slowly getting the hang of this thing, just slowly though.

Well, where are we now?? We've just spent the last four days camping at a wicked little campsite in Campeche. Very close to the beach and that's about it. There ain't that much else to do around where we've been staying so its been really really great, although we've still found lots to do to keep us occupied.

We left Barra da Lagoa and had to take many busses in order to get to Campeche, including one that broke down so we just had to sit at the side of the road and wait, wait wait.. We were just about to bring out the travel scrabble when our replacement bus stopped to pick us up.. So it was back on the busses and eventually we made it to where we were headed. It was totally different from where we'd come from, very quiet and family orientated, but just what we were after. Once we sorted that we were going to camp etc and we knew limited Portuguese and they knew limited English it was time go go and choose a pitch. Lots of pine trees covering the place - all the needles make for a more comfly sleep.. as we were really roughing it with no mattresses etc to lie on at night - that's where the beer came in handy, as a few were consumed in order for some decent slumber.. I lie cause actually by the time night came we were totally knackered that the floor almost seemed comfortable.

We had heard of sandboarding down at a beach called Joaquina where they hold surf competitions etc.. and wer were keen to go and give this a go. On the map,it looked like it was the beach right at the end of our beach, towards the left.. So we got up early, had some leftovers and got on our way, as the guy said to us it was about a two hour walk (on very very very soft sand!!). Anyway, we got there, that's all i'm going to say. The walk was good, a bit on the tiring side, but good for the legs is what i kept telling myself. (Cameron Diaz legs, Cameron Diaz legs!)
Great idea it was to walk about 8kms and then run up and down a sand dune for a couple hours sandboarding!! But suckers for punishment we did! I had a few wipe outs (as per usual) while Steve took to it like a fish to water or maybe a crab to the sand!! He was really good and didn't fall once, while i was the one on the sand, bum in the air.. But i managed to get the just of it near the end but a fun time was had by all! Straight off the dune for COLD BEER!!! Now thats what i'm talking about..

In order to get back, we ended up walking about half way home (again on the very very very very soft sand!!!). Once home it was rest (on the pine needles) for a bit and then abuse the body some more with a run around of bat and ball - we bought one the day we got to the campsite as thats what everyone does over here.. but after all that exercise already we weren't at match level..
That night i crashed out and managed to sleep for 12 hours on the hard floor - i think its easy to say i was exhausted.. Poor Steve couldn't seem to get comfortable and was awake for ages..

We bought one pot and one wooden spoon when we got here and its been amazing what we've managed to concoct in that one pot, dinners have been great! Also we kind of made friends with a Portuguese family who eat alot of nice meat etc.. and they obviously think we need to eat more as they seem to give us their leftovers. We don't say no to it, although we did say no to a skewer of chicken hearts!!! Yuck!! Already ate some of those in Rio when we were at a meat restuarant - the guy piled about five onto my plate. We shared one, but that was enough for me...

Anyway, this is getting rather long - good work if you made it this far.. We're killing some time waiting for our bus thats taking us to the Iguassu Falls. We're headed for the Argentinian side cause its much cheaper there, then we'll head back to see it from the Brazillian side for a day, then back to Argentina and from there we'll make our way down towards Bueanos Aries. So i'll try and be back doing the blog thing in a few days... For those of you who know me and my postcard story.. I've got some, they just need to be writtten in and posted, but we haven't seen any signs of a post office yet, so it could be interesting..

Ok, ciao
Kirst
