Because our tour was in the afternoon we decided to go to Ipanema beach first. it was raining when we arrived by metro so we walked up the strip and then left. W then decided to go to botafogo because we heard that there was a big mall there and we could escape the weather. The mall was closed and we were told that it is a public holiday and the mall will open by 2pm, but the food stores open at 12, it was 11am. 1 hour to kill. We walked around and took some photographs. We then stumbled upon a very up market restaurant on the water. We went in and after no service we promptly left. By then the mall was open and we decided that with the amount of disappointments today our best bet was Hungry Jacks.

We then headed to Copacabanna beach four our tour. We arrived at 1:30pm in time for our tour at 2pm. The weather was miserable and all the pubs were overflowing with people from the fan park so no place at the inn for us. The bus only arrived at 3pm. Everyone was ready to call it a day, but we boarded the bus and headed out. The weather was still terrible and the queues were even worse. The bus stop was a 5 minute walk in the rain to the train station that would take us up to the statue. The train is specifically designed to go up this steep slope to the top of this mountain and the trip takes 20 minutes. Because of all the queuing and all the people the trip took about an hour. Once on top we took our photos, had some coffee and were ready to leave
