Last step of our tour around the world.... Rio de Janeiro, city of contrasts: fascinating and incredible, poor and rich, modern and traditional, polluted and natural....
We stayed in the great area of Ipanema, the area the richest of Rio and also the safest. We still haven't got much money but we found a little hostel not too expensive, located 5 minutes away from the beach. nice staff, great location and just perfect to finish our trip!
We went to visit favelas with the fab company "Be a local". It was great and not at all voyeur as we would expect it. It giuves you a fantsatic iunsight of life there and makes you realise how lucky we are to have a job that we moan about and see that the place where we live is not that bad after all!
Also we went to see the usual touristy stuff: Copacabana, Sugar Loaf Hill (pao de Azucar), the famous statue of Christ Redeemor overlooking Rio and redeeming the Cariocas (Rio's inhabitants) of their sins (and there are loads...), Santa Theresa and its trams, Lapa, football match in one of the biggest stadiums in the world (that was brilliant) and of course, going to the beach!
Rio is a

A cloud is covering the hill which gives the impression that He is going to Earth!
fantastic city. What a great end to our round the world trip! A bit like firworks at the end of a show...
