Final thoughts,

Well as we await our chariot to the airport, we thought we would kill some time putting our final thoughts down as we reflect on the last 5 and a bit months. Firstly, thanks to our loyal followers – always nice to get messages and to know that people have actually been reading the blog! I think Irene and Graham get the award for most messages sent – thank you. Also nice to find out that after over 5 months and 20-odd blogs, my Dad actually worked out how to read them the week before we go home!
So, 3 continents, 19 countries, 3 Wonders of the World, a lot of miles, thousands of pounds, one tropical disease, mucho vino and lot of laughs, it is time to go home – our 6 month travel adventure is nearly over but it time for the trip awards:
Award 1 – Best Place
Carrie – Serengeti National Park - Tanzania
Danny – Vang Vieng in Loas

Award 2 – Best Activity
Carrie – Tubing in the Vang Vieng
Danny – hiking the Inca Trail

Award 3 – Best Country
Carrie – indecisive as usual – Loas and Namibia
Danny – Namibia (Springbok steaks swung it)

Award 4 – Best sight
Carrie – Victoria Falls via micro flight
Danny – Carrie in a bikini, closely followed by the salt lagoon in San Pedro de Atacama

Award 5 – Most stupid thing done
Carrie – Mountain biking (she says her arse still hurts)
Danny – Worlds Deadliest Vindaloo (my arse still hurts)
Award 6 – Worst moment
Carrie – Danny getting malaria
Danny – Carrie saying “I have lost/can’t find ”

Award 7 – Funniest moment
Carrie – Watching Danny and Nora and Dave doing the gorge swing at Victoria Falls
Danny – Watching Carrie fall off an elephant in Laos

Award 8 – Biggest sh1thole
Carrie – Delhi
Danny – Delhi

Award 9 – Worst journey
Carrie – the hour ride from Delhi airport to the hotel
Danny – illegal border crossing into Peru

Award 10 – Ultimate highlight
Carrie – shopping (she is refusing to be more specific than that) needless to say she did this everywhere!
Danny – Safari in Tanzania

Although our travels are coming to an end, we are looking forward to our new adventure in Lancashire (this is Carrie dictating to me – I wouldn’t say anything as soppy as this).
