It wasn´t that much of a mission getting here. We got a bus from Recife to Natal and just before Natal we got off at Goininha and got another little mini van for 3 Reals to Pipa. We checked into the HI hostel (Pipa Hostel), which is probably the best one there I reckon. It had a swimming pool and we met loads of cool people. Boucs and I managed to find an all you can eat Parrilla for 27 Reals which even included free drink and dessert, so it was game over for us on day one! Pipa was a cute little place, they pretty much had 2 bars in town, Tribus Bar and Oz Bar which was opposite. There were some cool little beaches we explored, of which one of them was the dolphin ... read more

I´m sure that you will all be glad to know that we managed to get our parasending done and both survived, with an awesome experience to keep with us! After a lazy day on the beach we left Canoa on the night bus to Natal and got a bus to Praia da Pipa, a small but rather touristy beach village. It is touristy for very good reasons however. Our first day here, after very little sleep on the bus, was unfortunately quite rainy and so we ventured to a nearby beach before giving up and going back, drenched and quite cold from the rain. The next morning it decided to chuck it down again and so we were holed up again in our hostel until the weather cleared in the early afternoon. We had heard about ... read more

On Thursday the day started out raining, not a very nice beach day.. but we went down the coast anyway and visited two other beaches. They were ment to be really beautiful beaches. The first one was very basic, nothing too great.. But after awhile the clouds moved on and it turned out ok.. We found a beautiful spot to eat lunch overlooking a creek running into the ocean. After lunch we went to the next beach. This one was cool because we hired another buggie, but this time Georgia came with us so it was more calm and we just went along the beach. We stoped at a hut on the way, it was kind of like a tiny turtle museum. We also stoped at Coca cola lagoon, which looked very beatiful with the evening ... read more

So wednesday Jules and I got up and were driven around the sand dunes in a buggy. I know it´s not very environmental but it was heaps fun!! He drove really fast up, down and around corners. I tried to make some movies but they are really shaky and you can´t really see how steep it is because it´s all just sand against sand.. We stoped on the way and these kids were holding some lizards and monkey (to show tourists in the hope of some money) man the monkey was so small, he di´n´t stay still for a moment running up and down peoples arms. Jules wouldn´t go near the lizard but I held it. It was so green. We also stoped at the top of a dune. Jules got really thirsty and drank a ... read more

So on Tuesday we drove a few hours south to a city called Joao Pessoa. It was sssoooooo hot!!! We did a city tour and saw some old buildings, went through an old church. drove up the headland where brazil is closest to both Europe and Africa. Man it was hot up there! And I was frustrated because I really wanted to take a photo of the bay and they all turned out blurry :( We had lunch at another restaurant with meals enough for three. we went for a swim here, it was really warm. I have never swam in an ocean so warm!! Later we went and walked through a market which was along a river. There were some really beautiful things, all made by hand. It´s hard to just walk past everything and ... read more

On Monday we went snorkling at Maracajau. I was a bit disappointed at first because it was a cloudy morning.. but it soon cleared up!! We cought a jet boat kind of thing to the middle of the bay out to the raft that was waiting for us. we all listened to the safety talk which I didn´t really understand, then we got our snorkle set and jumped into the blue water. The corral was brown and the snorkle let water in but it was still a really good day.. we got to test our camera out under water which was fun, but you can´t see the screan very well so we didn´t know if we even got photos of what we wanted. The fish move fast too. there was this really blue fish that I ... read more

Today we flew to Natal. It was a bit scary because the plane hit some terbulance just before we landed. They turned the Emergency Exit signs on, which is what scared me.. But we were all very glad when we landed safely, I could see the reliefe on everyones faces. I was also very happy to see our transfer waiting for us to take us to our hotel because I was getting a bit tired. The hotel was lovely. Right on the beach, with two swimming pools. There was breakfast served daily, lots of fruit salad and eggs on toast with freash fruit juce too. I tried an avocado smoothie, it was ok but I didn´t really like the aftertaste..... read more

Well I guess having been away for nearly two months, its about time I updated this and let you know what Ive been upto. Not alot in the first month, arrived at Mandy Moos at Natal and dossed on the beach at Ponta Negra for the best part of a month. Excellent I can tell you! Just sat around and ate ice cream and drank coco water, cant say I picked up much of a tan but hey what do you expect. Amandas house is in the middle of no where, and I mean that literally, it is 11 km down a sand track, no public transport or anything, but it is absolutely gorgeous with her back garden looking on to a lake. While her friend Lesley was there we did go to Pipa which is ... read more
