Well, after our mammoth bus ride from 5 degree celcius Calafate to 35 degree Iguazu, we spent a day checking out the Argentinian half of the Iguazu falls. Its difficult to find words to describe the falls, and the surrounding area in general. There are multiple falls (like 100´s), and the whole place is incredibly powerful, and just bloody amazing really. We jumped in a jet boat that took us up the Iguazu river and under some of the falls, which was an incredible experience. We got completely soaked. By the end of the day we were exhausted from walking around in the heat, but it was worth it.
The following day (Saturday the 6th I think) we jumped on a bus and did the Brazil side (via immigration etc which was no big deal really). There is less to do on the Brasilian side, but you are offered a more panoramic view of the falls. It was really nice to be able to get some perspective on where the boat went, and where we had walked the day before.
On Sunday (7th, yesterday), we jumped on an overnight bus to Curitiba (Brasil) where we basically plan to chill for a day before getting on another overnight bus to Rio De Janiero tomorrow for Carnival where the madness will begin!!
Today we have cruised around Curitiba and found it a bit different from any Argentinian city we visited. The population is a bit more diverse, the streets a bit tidier, and I guess it feels slightly more organised somehow (as opposed to Buenos Aires which presented itself as pretty chaotic - probably due to it´s size though to be fair).
Looking forward to jumping on a tourist bus tomorrow which will show us the sights of Curitiba (it doesnt operate on a Monday, infact quite a few places look like they take Monday off) before we jump on our overnight Bus to Rio and catch up with some friends from Melbourne, and their mates, to enjoy Carnival.
Havent got our camera cable with us now, so will post some picture in the near future.
Take care whanau.
Brett and Jo.
