Edit Blog Post

Finally, we made it to computer and it takes about 10 minutes to open a website, but better than nothing! We are actually in Venezuela at the moment but we didn´t manage to blog in the last 2 weeks and here we go with short update. From Rio we took a bus to Ilheus in Bahia to spend a week or so on the beach. To avoid the crowds we headed to a very small village called Olivenca 13 km south of Ilheus. There we rented a very small and basic ´house´directly on the beach. Olivenca has a big indigenous community and our neighbours were proud indians, the whole extended family was living in the same house we did! Our landlord tried his best to make us feel uncomfortable in regard to our neighbours as they didn´t pay the rent and he was scared to throw them out. However, they were nice enough and we presented us with gifts and food etc. We ened up staying 9 days there as it was nice to stay directly on the beach.

Our next stop was Manaus as we really wanted to do a tour in the Amazonas. The flight and tour cost us a little fortune and was really disappointing! We went with planettours and I would not recommend them.... Anyway, we stayed 4 days on the river and the landscape is very impressive. Unfortunately, the connection here is not good enough to upload any pics! As the jungle is very dense, it is hard to spot any wildlife, but the guide caught a little alligator and a sloth for us. Again, maybe later we can upload funny pictures of Frankie holding the sloth! The highlight of the tour was sleeping one night in the jungle, which was exciting. We also had a very nice group and this was great. Next time, we will tell you abou Venezuela as this is a completely different story!
