So our boat to Manaus was a completely different experience to the first time around but again we had to sleep three nights on the boat. Although the first night we were docked and had the boat to ourselves. The captain agreed that we could sleep overnight which saved us finding accomodation for the night. When we woke up after our first night we thought the boat would be crammed with hammocks like previously but to our astonishment only 40 or 50 hammocks went up which left us with plenty of room to swing our hammocks to our hearts content 😉 We were due to leave at 1pm but didn´t end up leaving until 4pm which meant we would have a late arrival in Manaus. Our neighbours seemed very nice through our sign language we spoke, no real drunk people like before. One of the guys was a bit annoying, he was old, small and fat and had quite a fancy to Anne, everytime I went to the toilet or fell asleep he was over to her like a mosquito! Every time asking her if we were married etc and then was very rude to me! The first was quiet and
quite boring, we had our dinner of two toasted sambo´s and a few beers while listening to Brazilian versions of Britney Spears and Beyonce! We ten got attacked by some sort of maggot fly which took over the boat, eventually we had to turn off all the lights on the boat and sit in darkness which pushed us to go to sleep!!
The next day was Annes borthday, was a bit dissapointing to be on the boat but we made the best of it. I was awake at sunrise so waited for Anne to wake up and we had present time. I jst got her some earings and little things, She was very happy with her present from Mum and Dad so thanks guys, was very kind of you! The rest of the day we mainly chilled out as there was not much else to do, no one on the boat spoke English! We had dinner and a few birthday drinks on the boat. The third day was very boring. We thought we would arrive before dark but ended up arriving at 11pm!! We walking around Manaus until 1130 as we couldn´t find our hotel. It turned out to be
around 2mins from where we were walking but none of the streets had names!! We finally had a bed after two weeks of sleeping in Hammocks, and an En Suite bathroom, fancy eh?!!
The next day we got up and went to see the sights of Manaus but the heat here is just so unbearable. We went to the museums etc, met some guys who tried to sell us Jungle tours and then bought our ticket to leave Brasil. Tomorrow we will be in Santa Elena, hopefully!! We have checked out of our hotel and am just filling in the time until our overnight bus this evening.
I am going to try and load up some photos of the last two weeks, internet seems ok here! Sorry photos wont load up here. WIll try and load some onto facebook!
