Lockheed C-130B Hercules Bolivian Air Force Santa Cruz - El Trompillo
After a nice weekend at the pool in Santa Cruz (coincidently together with the Bolivian National Football Team) it was time to head back to La Paz. This time the ticket was booked on-line with Amaszonas. The first part of the journey was to be with Aerocon and their Do-228 CP-2176, great!!

Before departure a couple of hours were spent on the excellent terrace at El Trompillo. Not a lot of activity but a few made the book, CP-2349 and FAB-66 were the only new frames to appear from Fridays visit. (lights and preserved not included).

After an one hour bumpy and noisy flight I was happy to feel the decent to Trinidad. I had been told to expect another C-46 and three DC-3 frames. Unfortunately

Douglas DC-3 wfu Trinidad Anyone with an ID for this one?
I didn’t manage to identify any of the DC-3s. On is parked close to the small terminal together with the Curtiss but its markings have almost faded away. The other two were dump in the grass at one end of the runway without wings. A fourth frame that escaped identification were a Bolivian Air Force IAI Arava that appeared to be parked here. Anyway seen at this Amaszones/Aerocon hub were (again excluding lights).

After another hour of flight this time on Amaszonas Metro CP-2459 (much more comfortable than the Dornier) we arrived at La Paz after passing the lovely snow-clad mountains around the city. Here I found out that on-line ticket sale is still very much in it youth in Bolivia! I was picked up at the plane by an Amaszonas agent and ask to join for the ticket counter so I could sign my creditcard slip. If Ryanair had to do the same I

guess it would be the end of cheep tickets. Fun none the less.

In the domestic baggage hall at La Paz there is a nice piece of art on the wall (it you are an aviation enthusiast that is). A quite large mosaic of a Curtiss C-46 made of small aviation photos. Cool.
