From Tupiza we needed to get to Uyuni and because there was no night conection we had to spend another day on a bus. Bus was meant to leave at 10 am and that was time when it actually arrived at a station. When we were buying our tickets we asked what sort of bus it is, but what arrived wasnt similar with that one on a picture at all - doesnt matter how much imagination you have. We were promised typical big bus, but this one was a half size and really really old. Fortunatelly we managed to grab a space for our big ruksacks in
a bottom part so we didnt have to put them on a roof and also we managed to get spaces for us. Other tourists werent so lucky, and despite having tickets there was no space for them and had to wait for next one. By that time their luggage was put on a roof and they had to climb on top to get it themselves. There was really hot inside and window was impossible to open, but we were just happy to be sitting. One of the travellers on the bus was also a chicken locked in a bag that made terrible noises all the way. At 10.30 we finally set off and 5 minutes later we stopped again, this time at petrol station where we had to wait again. At 10.50 we finally set off properly - on a unpaved road - just dust and stones. Scenery, as usual, amazing except near surroudings covered in rubbish-as usual, slowly turned from big red rocks to a flat halfdesert, just andian grass and lamas. This was a typical day spent on the bus for us and after 3 months we didnt mind, main thing was that we arrived. There is nothing
to do in Uyuni, except finding a travel agency for our trip to Salar de Uyuni and that is what we did plus finding a hostal for one night.
