Quatre murs, ... read more

So the last day, not only for our great big trip but also for the world according to the Maya calendar and this is how it unfolded for us: We all woke up at around 7 to at least try and leave earlyish and having done most of the packing the night before all we really had to do was take the things down to the car for the final load up and then finish of minimal cleaning up. But I think the feeling of tiredness and sadness made everything a lot slower than usual so we still only ended up leaving around 9:30am. The first part of the journey home was a climb from sea level to about 15000 feet in only a couple of hours so from previous experiences we were expecting plenty of ... read more

Moved on to Bolivia this afternoon and said goodbye to Peru. It’s been an amazing month in this country I’ve seen, climbed into and wandered around enough Inca ruins to last me a life time. The people are beautiful, colourful and amazingly friendly. The Landscape, wow; vivid blue skies, barren deserts, lush green valleys, glaciers, mountains and canyons. I’ve camped on stunning beaches, stayed as a guest in a local Peruvian home, slept out under the stars in the desert, been hidden deep behind majestic city walls, fallen asleep high into the clouds and awoken to the Pacific Ocean. I’ve hiked, swam, wandered, been lost and found, smiled and laughed till my face hurt, jogged around stone formations and along beautiful beaches, jumped off of a bridge, danced and more, I’m a very very lucky girl. ... read more

Day 339 Friday 14th September Had breakfast with the cheery ladies again this morning we sure will miss them, but at least we got eggs this morning only because I pushed in. Paid the bill and there was a taxi waiting out front so we were on our way for our 9.00am bus to Cochabamba. The bus is one of the better bus companies El Dorado yes you would have thought we would know better and there was definitely no gold lining on this bus. I learnt one lesson I waited till the last minute to board and let everyone get settled in their seats. We are heading down to 2553m and warmer weather so we can’t wait, as we have spent the last month between 3600m – 4000m. The bus was hot and stuffy so ... read more
