On February 4, I left Ushuaia and took a plane to Buenos Aires. After drinking too much wine the night before, celebrating Kris's birthday, I was quite sick during this trip but when we landed at Buenos Aires I already felt better. I took a bus and then a taxi to my hotel ("Tango de Mayo Hotel"😉, because I had no idea where it was and had no map yet.
The hotel was great and my room just amazing ! Finally a huge bed in a room just for me with a private, beautiful and clean bathroom : that felt like heaven after 8 weeks in dorms ! :-D
I was quite hungry so I went to a nice Italian restaurant and had some really good pasta and fruit salad. I spent the afternoon on the roof terrace of the hotel, reading and enjoying this beautiful place. In the evening I ate the rest of my pasta from lunch and some chocolates while watching a movie in my room. It was just perfect! :-D I mean, I like hostels, but sometimes a bit of comfort and privacy is just nice...

The next morning was my 27th birthday and I spent it in my room, talking to my family, answering messages, listening to good music and relaxing. By the way, the fact that it was my birthday was the reason I booked a hotel for 2 nights, otherwise I would surely have stayed in a hostel from the beginning, but I wanted something special for my birthday.
Afterwards, around 11 AM, I started my shopping tour in calle Florida and I must say it was a very profitable tour : I bought lots of beautiful and mostly cheap clothes ! :-) Since I sold my tent to Sahar in Ushuaia, I now had lots of space in my backpack for new staff.
In the evening, I met my friend Karina from Buenos Aires whom I had met in the hostel in La Serena in Chile. We went for a walk around Puerto Madero, a very nice place, and at 9 PM we met my friend Juan-Pablo from Buenos Aires whom I had met in El Calafate and we had dinner and a few drinks in a Mexican restaurant. It was a very nice evening and I was happy to spend it with friends. I even got a piece of cake with a birthday

candle and some presents! :-)

The next day, had to leave the hotel and to check in to the "Reina Madre Hostel". On my way down to the metro, somebody tried to pickpocket-me... I went down the stairs and suddenly I feel some bad smelling liquid being thrown at me. Since I knew that this is a trick to rob you, I didn't stop but continued walking so that nothing happened, but I was quite scared all the time in the metro until I arrived at the hostel. I had this stinking stuff everywhere : on my shorts, my hat, my backs, everywhere. It was disgusting and I had to wash everything ! :-(

Concerning the next week, the days are a bit blurry in my memory, so I'll just make a resume of what I saw : I went to 2 free city tours to discover the city, I visited the cemetary, some museums, the design mall and lots of other places in the city. The city is big, but well organized, but bus system and metro works well and the city is bright and clean. I LOVE IT ! With Annika and Sophie, I went for a day to Tigre,

a city close to Buenos Aires with lots of islands. There, the only way to go anywhere is by boat, so we took a ferry to one of these islands and walked around for some time. It was very nice there. On the hottest day, on Friday, Annika and I went to the swimming pool and relaxed in the cold water. I walked a lot in Buenos Aires, which my foot didn't like and Nils never stopped telling me to stop walking and rest, but, of course, I didn't listen. ^^

On Saturday night, I had dinner with Karina and her friend Chris and afterwards we went to see the Karnival of BA in av. Indenpendencia. That was really nice : one big group after the other came to the place, dancing the typical dance (which looked really exhausting!) and playing music (drums mostly). It was really cool.
On Sunday evening, we all went to a bar to watch the Super Bowl - I had never seen it before and even though they tried to explain me the rules, it's still not very clear for me... We had a lot of fun and drank lots of beer. Afterwards we went up to the roof terrace of our hostel and spent some more time there. That evening I got to know Nils from Germany, Eric from the States, Iwan from the Netherlands and Jonah from Sweden. They were really cool and I'm happy I could spent a few days with them !
On Monday evening, I went with Annika, Sophie and some other people to "La Bomba", a concert of drums. That was cool, but it was inside - usually it's outside - because it was supposed to rain and the room was too small and hot so that it wasn't as good as it could have been.
On Tuesday was Iwan's birthday. He celebrated it on Monday night and lots of people came to the hostel. I spent most of his birthday with him because we did a city tour together. He's a really nice guy.
On Wednesday, after going to Tigre, I went for dinner and for some drinks with my friend Karina to Palermo. The beer and the cocktails were great and we had a lot of fun ! :-)
On Thursday, after visiting the design mall, I had dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe of Buenos Aires - a huge burger

-, before going to the "Fuerza Bruta" show. This was just amazing ! I can't even describe it, you have to see it for yourself. I have never seen a better show in my life !
On Friday night, Karina came to our hostel. That night there was a barbecue on the roof terrace, but Karina and me ordered Sushi and it was delicious ! That evening was fun, even though it was raining. :-)
On Saturday, I went to the "Museo de Arte Decorativo" and I had lunch in the lovely restaurant next to the museum. I ordered Croque Madame with bechamel sauce and cheese which was a very very bad idea considering the heat : this was the start of my salmonella... :-(
That evening I met Antônio and Juliana from Brazil and Clara from Portugal. Antônio would play the guitar for us that evening, but I had decided to go to a Tango course, so I couldn't spend the evening with the others. The Tango course was great though ! It wasn't a fancy place but a just big room where they offer different dance courses. When I arrived the rock course was still going on and that's when I

met a very nice Argentinian guy (don't remember his name... Mariano?) who asked me to dance with him. We danced some rock together and when the tango course started he took the beginner's lesson with me, even though he already knew how to dance tango. He said he wanted to see how these teachers dance, but I guess he wanted to dance with me. :-) Anyway, the course was good, I learned the basic steps and afterwards I danced all night (until 3 AM) with Mariano whatever dance was played : salsa, rock, tango. There was also a live band at some point who played tango songs. I had a lot of fun and learned quite some tango! :-D
Sunday was my last day unfortunately, but I spent it with Annika, Antônio, Philip, Juliana and Clara. First, we went to the market in San Telmo. This market was huge ! And we bought lots of staff, most of all Annika. :-) For lunch, we had lots of grilled meat at a "parilla". Afterwards we walked to la Boca to see the graffiti. It wasn't a good idea to walk there, it was quite far and my foot was hurting like hell. The graffiti were nice though and we had a coffee at the roof terrace of some museum where we relaxed for a while before going back.
In the evening, we had dinner together at a restaurant close to the hostel. It wasn't really good : we all had ravioli and they all tasted the same, like cheese, but the foot came with a huge glass of wine which was the start of us getting drunk that night. :-) Before going back to the hostel, we bought 3 bottles of wine, but we should have bought more. ^^ Since my shuttle was coming at 3 AM to take me to the airport, the others decided that I shouldn't go to bed at all and they helped me to stay awake : Antônio played the guitar, everybody was drinking, first wine then whiskey and we all had a great time ! :-D
That evening I met Dan from Romania. He had worked for a few years at a bank in Luxembourg and speaks many languages. He's a really nice person and I hope I'll meet him again some day.

Well, that's it, that was my time in Buenos Aires. In conclusion, it was an amazing time : I met many nice people, the city was beautiful, the people were nice, I did a lot of sightseeing and we had great parties. :-D
