I was asked the other day about the most remote places I have been. Unfortunately, this person was unaware of two of the three places I mentioned. The obvious one, the Great Barrier Reef, where we motored 65km off the coast of Port Douglas in Queensland, Australia. Other than Hawaii, it was probably the first time I was surrounded by water. In fact, I was IN the water!!! And there was no land in sight, in any direction! But the other two were probably equally remote, and perhaps more interesting. One was Torres del Paine in Patagonia. Bonjour à tous, Je vous le dis de suite hier au soir je n'ai pas arrosé le 500ème blog. Je pense qu'avec ce que j'avais consommé, le midi ça aurait été un peu excessif. La Terre de feu est située à la confluence des océans Atlantique et Pacifique, à l'extrême sud du continent américain, divisé entre le Chili et l'Argentine. Le Cap Horn n'est qu'à quelques dizaines de kilomètres. L'excursion du jour est la "Parque Nacional Tierra del fuego". Ce parc de près de 70 000 hectares a été créé en 1960. On y a retrouvé des traces de présence humaine de plus de 10 000 ans. La cordillères des Andes vient mourir dans ce parc. Le passage d'anciens glaciers aujourd'hui disparus, le mouvement des plaques tectoniques donne l'impression de paysages torturés. Le climat y est ... read more

Bonjour à tous, Jamais je n'aurais pensé le 9 juin 2014, lorsque j'ai fait mon premier blog que 8 ans après j'en serais au 500ème. C'est celui-ci, et au bout du monde, sans jeu de mots. 357271 mots, 12059 photos, 34681 visites. Dans les données je n'ai pas le nombre de faute. Ca vaut mieux pour moi si non je prendrais peur. Me manque aussi les kms parcourus, ce doit être impressionnant, tout comme le nombre d'heures passées à les écrire. Je pense que ce soir je vais me laisser aller à l'arroser comme il faut. Ushuaia - The site was first settled by Wasti H. Stirling, an English missionary, in 1870. In 1884 an Argentine naval base was established, and in 1893, after the archipelago was partitioned between Argentina & Chile Ushuaia was declared a city. Ushuaia has the distinction of being the southernmost city in the world. Convicts were transferred from Isla de los Estados to Ushuaia in 1906 to build this national prison, finished in 1920. The depressing cells, designed for 380 inmates, held up to 800 before the prison closed in 1947. Famous prisoners include author Ricardo Rojas and anarchist Simón Radowitzky. The anarchist Simon Radowitzky spent 21 years in the prison, many of those years in solitary confinement.
