Rough, rugged and remote Ushuaia sits on the tip of the island of Tierra del Fuego and was full of adventure. I hiked up to the glacier that backs the town, getting stuck in deep snow, and then got lost in the national park as the sun was fading. In the late April off-season, there was no one around--I had to rescue myself.

wonderful wild stories
Dear Tara, Love your wonderful and wild stories from Tierra del Fuego, esp. about the Yamana and their seal lion suits. On a much more mild and local note, this week Steven and I camped at El Capitan to catch the full moon lunar eclipse and a close glimpse of three gray whales on their way to Alaska. Best wishes, Heidi
