Goodbye El Chalten :(

We arrived in El Chalten - Argentina ( the trekking/mountain climbing capital)



I know it probably sounds redundant but this in terms of landscape beauty is over the moon.....we camped riverside right at the base of the mountains.



We arrived around noon had a nutritious lunch of PBJ and apples. Boy oh boy my body is dying for fruits and veggies, all you can find is apples, the odd nectarine and carrots.

We packed our backpacks with snacks and water and started off on a 7km hike to Lago Capri......reaching our destination was a little peace of heaven as it was about 30 degrees! Lago Capri is a glacier lake at the base of

Mt. Fritzroy (climbers come from all over the world to summit this mountain)

Not a shocker to those who know us well, my family geared down and jumped into the icy cold water....they ROCK!!!

After drying off and enjoying the beautiful views we headed back to town for a beer and hamburgesa (giddy up) Sean and I found our new favourite beer (Quilmes)!



Day 2 - El Chalten - 22km



Another late start to the day....after a hardy breakie of Oatmeal (thinking about you auntie)

We started off on our big 22km hike into Laguna Cerra Torre.

It took us about 3.5hrs to get there. OMG, as you walk over the hill of sand and rock you are staring at Cerra Torre and the glacier that recedes at the base. There are huge pieces of glacier ice float in the Laguna...it really was spectacular. This water was not swimmable ( the pics will describe why😊

it certainly cooled off our sore feet though!

We had loads of water but it was fun to stop at the water falls and rivers to fill up with freezing cold glacier water as well as dipping our heads.



I found a piece of myself here and was extremely sad to leave El Chalten.......I will be back!
