PATAGONIA: El Chalten...Drive in the front...Blown out the back. If you want a reason to come to Argentinian Patagonia...El Chalten is a must. The famous images of the front of the Fitz Roy & Torre Ranges from that funky town are known to many. Breathtaking in any language. But have you seen what's out the back...behind those famous peaks? No public transport going that way...but with a 4WD...... Read Full Entry

CERRO FITZ ROY RANGE

Great adventures!
Love this photo of my one of my fave ranges in the world! Sounds as if you had great adventures in this magical world, partly thanks to your 4WD trusty steed--excellent! Happy hiking in Patagonia!

totally agree on the dinosaur's nest!
Nice to hear from the intrepid adventurer. Kinda easier for us in a 4WD...leaving the bike saddle to hardier souls. Up close and personal it was a dinosaur's nest...glad the pic kinda conveyed some idea of how real it was.

One of our favourite places in the world
We once hiked from Chile over to Lago Desierto, when Kiva was a baby, after our trip down the Carretera Austral. It is a place we often talk of returning to. Great blog this, ruined somewhat by your spurious claim that Oz is the lamb capital of the world. I can only surmise you meant wombat?

One of our favourite places in the world
You never cease to amaze me Jason. Making Kiva hike to Lago del Desierto as a baby...it'll toughen him up I hear you say. Next you'll claim he was born on a glacier! And as to Oz being the lamb capital of the world...its not New Zealand is it?

Thanks Lili. Not being comfortable in front of a camera there are some times that the memory is worth retaining. We were there...and here's the proof. How good is that? Priceless!

Much time will be consumed in serious research in the coming months. Thought this would be a good place to start. Wow!

Serious? Are you really Jo? If so...El Chalten is NOT a maybe. Considering I only had a pocket camera...wonder how much trouble Jo could do!!!
