Penguins Punta Arenas Well Let´s Start
Finally got to a computer after a month in South America.
After the flight arrived in Santiago we spent the next 3 days just relaxing and catching up after lack of sleep. Did the Concha y Toro Wine Tour which was an epic as we got Lonely Planetised. Easy - just get Metro 5 and bus 8. I doñt think so.
The first real travelling started when we caught a flight to Punta Arenas. Did the Penguin thing in Punta Arenas and got some great shots of the Penguins coming in from the sea.
We have started to learn about South American time. To get out of Punta Arenas to Ushuaia took us two days just to get on a bus.
We did our first trek around Ushuaia. Three Day Trek through the Valleys around Ushuaia called Paso de la Oveja.
We then caught a Zodiac to Puerto Williams, the most southern town on earth. We then caught a car ferry back to Punta Arenas 40 hours sitting upright.
Our next trek was the Torres del Paine.
This is why all you K2´ers should keep doing those midweek training walks with Dave

Coming out of the Sea and Noel. Fantastic 10 day trek.
Got to see some great sights, tremendous mountain ranges, glaciers crashing into lakes, Icebergs floating in lakes. Some of the many highlights would have to be coming over a 1200m pass and seeing Glacier Grey below us and a condor flying underneath us while we were sitting admiring the glacier.
We then made our way to El Chaltén to do the Laguna Torre and Around Monte Fitz Roy trek in Parque Nacional Los Glaciares. Had some fantastic weather again for trekking except one day when we had to try and walk against 30 knot winds. This blew away all the clouds to leave a perfect next day as the picture of Fitz Roy shows.
We then traveled up "magical/mythical " Ruta 40 to Bariloche, stopping off in Los Antiguos to break up the journey. The only interesting thing on Ruta 40 was Los Antiguos and the sunset from the bus window. Otherwise there was endless kilometres of Patagonian steppe.
