Puerto Iguazu - Argentinian side
After a very long over night bus journey that consisted of bad food and movies in Spanish we arrived in Puerto Iguazu, we checked into our hostel The Garden Stone and we finally had a private room a nice break from the dorms and the noisy snorers lol we headed to the supermarket to get supplies and chef Byrne russeled up a yummy spag bol before we hit the hay. The following morning we were up very early to catch a bus to the Argentinian side of the falls. We got to the park at 8.30am and once inside we had to take 2 trains to get to the top viewpoint. It was insane to be standing right on top of the falls. We both got very wet from all the spray. We stayed up there quite a while admiring the view and then got a train back and had some lunch before walking the upper trail which had many view points of the falls. Unfortunately the weather got very bad and we got stuck in a storm. So we took shelter until the sun came back out. We then headed off on the lower
track and eventually found ourselves at the boat dock. We jumped on a speed boat that drove us right under the falls it was amazing and we got soooo wet haha we had a great day we even saw some monkeys, lizards and also some coatis which are really cool animals who are so curious, but can be dangerous they were trying to steal everyone's food! We were exhausted again when we got back to the hostel!! We collected our laundry chef Byrne worked his magic once again and then we had a drink or two lol
Foz Do Iguassu - Brazilian side
The next morning we took a public bus to the Brazilian border. We had no hassle just got stamped right in and caught the next public bus to Foz which only took about 20mins. Once there we checked into our hostel the Iguassu Guest house which was really nice. We had a lot of trouble using our ATM cards as soon as we got to Brazil. Which seems to be a problem for many travellers. We spent the first day wandering around the town and chilling by the pool in the hostel. The following morning
we took a bus to see the Brazilian side of the falls. They are completely different on each side. On the Argentinian side you are on top of the falls so you don't get a very good view of them plus it is very commercialised. On the Brazilian side you get an amazing panoramic view of the falls and it is a lot less commercialised. We were so happy we went to see them from both sides.
The next day we chilled out in the sun shine and then headed to the bus station to catch an over night bus to Sao Paulo.
Chat soon,
Laura and Ian xxxx
