Today we took a bus to a town high up in the mountains for the day...we ended up at around 11,000 feet in the village of Humahuaca. The bus ride took us up the Quebreda or canyon of Humahuaca for a couple hours. The whole canyon is an UNESCO World Heritage Site. One thing that tour groups miss is the delicious juxtaposition of cultures proved by bus travel: looking at a World Heritage Site out the window, traveling with people from all over the world, AND having the movie "White Chicks" blasting in Spanish on the DVD players in the bus!

Our bus was hit with water balloons and we saw many people, young and old, with flour on their heads...

Bill was tempted to see how much he could get for his kidney...times are tough....

The convent is still functioning...you can apparently buy pastries there, which are delivered through sliding panels, so the nuns are not seen by outsiders.
