The immediate area around the bus terminal in Buenos Aires is quite poor with homeless people, basic housing and a tired old look
Went for a little bus ride yesterday, 26 hours from Buenos Aires to Esquel which is in Chubut province near the bottom of Argentina in the area known as Patagonia.

Buses seats can be got with various classes so i went Cama class which is bed. Double decker bus with only about 30 passengers spaces, 1 across then aisle then 2 across with a toilet and food storage areas much like the first class area of a plane. The seats almost fully recline, with a huge footrest, pillow and blanket.
But wait there's more....

You get fed... Ham and cheese croissants for a late afternoon snack and coffee, followed by a 3 course meal including wine at 9pm, salad and something, with roast beef and veges and dessert, all served to your seat with much courtesy and English! Breakfast the next morning was croissants and rolls, so all up Via Bariloche has my vote as a great bus company.

Left Buenos Aires on a cold wet miserable day, around 3pm. Takes about 2 hours to clear the city proper. Woke up after a really good sleep around 8am so the pictures are from there onwards mostly with us

We took 2 hours to clear the city, much gridlocked traffic
following a lake and river into Bariloche where we had a 20 minute break. And then many lakes and mountains through El Bolson and into Esquel.

Esquel sits at 600 metres above sea level, in the middle of a very dry and arid plain, with rocky outcrops and the small town in a little valley, picturesque and quite nicely nestled up against the mountains
