Jon gets arty in Cementerio de la Recoleta Back by popular demand with blog number 2!!!!!!!
So where did I leave you.... Ah yes with Jon snoring after a fun packed day of 'City Bus Touring it' around BA... And you all hanging on tender hooks waiting to see how we 'performed' in our little Tango Teaser....Lol!!
Well lets start with that then.....
To get us in the mood on Day 2 for our day of 'learning new things' we thought we'd take a wander in the morning up the road to the San Telmo District- the home of BA's main tango culture..... Lovely place filled with cobbled streets, al fresco dining and all things arty.... Managed to find a bank that would take Jon's new travel cc, which i have to say is a great one as we managed to get an extra peso to the pound by just leaving the uk!!
Then it was time for our first Spanish lesson and unfortunately our last ....... Not through want of trying..... We were useless.... So much so we tried to book in for 2 days of intense therapy.... No luck ... No can do for Spanish Lessons at the weekend... Monday to Friday only.....
Eva and Michelle
Practising to be President Guess what we'll be doing as soon as we hit Panama!!! I have to say though despite the lack of lessons we've battled through these last 4 days and are getting better, although it is nothing like European Spanish and they talk super super fast...... We hardly understand a word....And thats coming from someone who did A Level Spanish....!!!!
Afterwards we hit the new port area.... Puerto Madero.... 3 districts by foot in one day.... We must be crackers I hear you say..... Especially as we have a tango lesson later.... Yes i hear you.... Too late .... With 10 mins to spare... Time for a quick cold soak of my tired little feet in the bidet 😊 our fantastic tango teacher arrived.... Now let me paint the picture..... 'Tango- Argentina's sultry dance' ..... Sweaty and Stif would more aptly describe our efforts but i'll let you be the judge...... We had so much fun..... So much so we paid for an extra 1.5 hours ontop of our free 1 hour given courtesy of the hostel.....
The next 2 days have gone in a flash..... If you love cities and you love London you'll love BA.... It really
has something for everyone.... From great architecture, beautiful parks, great nightlife, diverse districts, markets and we didnt even get to Tigre, which is apparently amazing.....and i could go on and on.....
We've walked for miles in 40 degree heat ..... Felt temperatures tipping over 30 degrees way past midnight.... Seen beautiful people, skate, board, bike, run, walk, take a buggy around parque three de febrero where there are litterally thousands of roses in bloom, paid our respects to Evita in cementerio de la recoleta, checked out the confiteria ideal Tango show and visited the milongas... Seen the locals dance the day away at the antiques market and genuinely loved every second... Not to mention only gone over budget by £86..... 😉
So there you have it..... Buenos Aires a must visit for City lovers....
Great value for money hostel, Hostel Le Estacion on Solis
Until next time.....
We promise to have more fun.....
