Time flies at a speed I couldn't even imagine once we arrived in Buenos aires in July. Imagine, next week it will be already three months that we arrived.
For those who are wondering, we already have our flights to leave the country end of June 2013. We love Argentina, but for multiple reasons....the current economic climate being one of them, I don't see myself settling here for the long term. Once we leave, I will do a full blog about the pros and cons of living in Argentina, and trust me, there is a lot to write about, but now is not the time to do it.
We are very well settled in our little flat, ready for the swimming pool to open with the warmer days coming pretty soon. The climate here is actually pretty gorgeous...ok, there are some of these rainy days, but winter here with temperatures most of the time being between 15 and 23 degres celsius...is pretty relax, and yes, so far so good...we are feeling safe....but let's wait few more months for this too...
Leslie and Tiffany have been integrated wonderfully too in their new school.
They have their classes in the morning in Castellano and afternoon in English. There is actually a bad effect to the bilingual school...as all their new friends speak english too, they are moving way too slowly for my taste in castellano...we'll see in a few month time.
My Castellano is moving pretty slowly too...not easy to practise Spanish while spending weeks in Africa or Asia...but I've found an easy way while in Buenos Aires. I'm spending more and more time playing golf at the Campo de golf de Palermo. Imagine, a 18 holes golf course...right in the middle of downtown, with an average green fee of 12usd. In Thailand.....that's just what you have to pay for your caddy. The golf course is packed, every single day...with mainly men ranging from 30 to 50 years old...go figure why they are not at work...Welcome to Argentina! It's also the opportunity for Leslie to play more round. Each week-end, if we are in Buenos Aires, we play a round together...as you know, we are not that often here...
And for my own working hours, having an office in Hong Kong, means the office opens at 10pm Buenos
Aires time, and close at 7am...maybe that's another reason not to go out...got to to few things before going to bed!
My frustration here is pretty simple. There are not enough hours in a day and days in a month to do everything we wish to do. We do a lot, but there is so much more things we could do...if we had 36 hours in a day.
Don't ask me about the night life...I haven't touched it...weekend are spent travelling or visiting the city...and it's not a place where you leave kids alone at home...so for the night life, we'll see another time...
The food is amazing....and in regards of the comments I've received on our blogs, you seem to understand that we have an amazing time as true foodies here...so more pics of food to come.
We have also enjoy some culture the last few weeks. Great evening first at Teatro Colon with Ines. Not sure Tiffany would have been able to stand a late evening concert in the middle of the week.
Than last Tuesday, four of us, we went to the
concert of Juanes. Wow, that was something! Juanes is from Colombia, not from here if you are wondering. Years ago, when I had no proper access to my kids, I was "flying" to Lima to party, and somehow, to kind of change my mind. So getting to see my first concert of Juanes, next to my two kids, trust me, for me, it was something out of this world! I had arrived!
Enjoy some of the pictures of the last few weeks...and yes, when we are home, it's mainly sunny....why not, it's nicer like this! Pics are from the impressive Teatro Colon, of Juanes concert, of La Boca and San Telmo, as well as out daily life. There is so much more we still have to discover. Not sure when is my next blog about Buenos Aires, but I guess pretty soon.
For now, the fun thing is I'm writting this from my desk in Hong Kong....yes in my office. We are Monday morning, the last bed I saw was on Friday morning...and I've got a full week of things to do in front of me...but no blog about it.
Saturday
was spent with a great friend....that blog is coming...soon....
