Argentine Ice Cream
Dessert at Cafe Tortoni. Starting this morning in Montevideo, Uruguay, we walked around the city to find out that the city is alive and kicking. Locals go to work, cars are zooming all around us, and shops are open. We managed to purchase some souvenirs from Uruguay, including from a flea market at
Plaza Constitution.
Montevideo doesn´t have much to offer tourists, so we decided to leave the city earlier than scheduled by successfully changing the tickets to the one o´clock Buquebus. Things went smoothly except for a little incident on my Argentine visa (surprise, surprise), but it got sorted out after a few explanations in English.
We got on the three hour ferry ride from Montevideo to Buenos Aires, which was a time for me to catch up with my journal entries. Ryan took a long nap on the ride, which was not actually a comfortable spot to do so.
As soon as we got back to BsAs, we checked into the same hostel. For lundin (lunch dinner), we decided to check out
Cafe Tortoni, a posh restaurant on the
Av 18 de Mayo, as suggested by many sources. It turned out to be one of the best restaurants I´ve eaten
Uruguay daily life
A celebration at Av. Sarandi, Montevideo. at, and the service was very friendly.
We spent the rest of the afternoon chilling around
Florida and
Av. Lavalle, pedestrian mall street that offer a lot of shopping and entertainment, then around the
Obelisco. After an hour or two, we were heading back to our hostel area, and had a bite at our new favorite
parrilla, or an Argentine style BBQ restaurant.
Now we are ready by packing our stuff to fly out to Iguazu Falls early tomorrow morning.
