Hola Todos! Hello Everyone!
I have been going going going since I got here! Our flight was delayed in Charleston until 6, and we almost missed our connecting flight in Atlanta to Buenos Aires (referred to as BA from here on), but made it just in time. We flew all night on Saturday and arrived in BA on Sunday Morning about 11am, their time. Speaking of time, I am three hours ahead here, not one like I thought it was going to be, so it's 4pm here now, and 1pm at home. The owner's of the two houses or residencias we are staying in met us at the airport with a bus, and then we drove directly to the houses, which are HUGE by the way. They are both on Paraguay St. and the one I am staying in houses 70 students, but they are not here yet, it is only about 10 CofC students and 3 other international students. The other house is where we go to eat our meals, they feed us three times a day if we want/are awake, but only during the week. It is also where the computer lab is at. When we arrived at the houses we were assigned rooms and taken to them so we could get settled in. Since my last name is Blackwell I was first on the list (alphabetical), and I guess I got the best room out of anyone. My room has the only balcony, a big bathroom compared to the other rooms and it is also a little bit bigger than the other rooms. I like it very much! I will have a spanish speaking roommate, but he will not arrive for three more weeks or possibly in March. I have plenty of storage space for all my stuff, I wish I had brought more! But enough about my room. The residencia is very beautiful, the supermarket is three blocks away, there is a park, and the zoo, and shopping, and restaurants and bars three blocks away as well all within the neighborhood (or barrio en espanol) of Palermo. My school is in Recoleta which is about a 15-20minute bus ride away or 30-45minute walk. We drove past it on our bus tour of the city yesterday, but today they are going to show us how to take the bus from the residencia to the school and tell
us about our classes! Oh! I almost forgot, we had a tango lesson yesterday as well, which was so much fun, and then we attempted to go out last night and practice what we had learned, but since it was Monday night, no tango clubs were open. I still do not have a cell phone, which has been a major hassle, but should have one by the end of the week, and will let yall know what the number is, but make sure you use a calling card don't just call my number. For now if you want to leave a voice mail for me you can call this number: 1-888-579-0208, then enter my account number: 2115729511, and follow the prompts to leave me a voicemail. I think it will work, but if not we have email: calebguy@gmail.com, and you can also send me a message on here, or I've found out about this internet site called skype where we can talk, but I have to make sure my computer has a mircophone first. The city of Buenos Aires if very beautiful and vibrant with lots of life and activity. We went all over yesterday, and I have attached some
pictures of my house, my room, and the city.
Amor Todos! Love Everyone!
