HELLO ALL!!!! Well, It's November now - I have been here in Buenos Aires for 4 months now!!! I really can't believe it's been that long, the time has gone soooooooo fast!!! Well, where to start......After 4 months I finally feel quite settled here, I still have a long long long way to go with my Spanish but I'm happy to report that I can communicate somewhat now which makes life a whole lot easier and ofcourse I expect to be perfect by Christmas (hahaha)!!! Actually I expect to still be learning for the rest of my life but every new word I learn is one step closer!!! So, to me Buenos Aires 'downtown' is much like every other busy city, people bustling around in a hurry, need to make the train, get to work on time all that jazz. The one huge difference I notice everyday as I walk around downtown is the buildings. Compared to Brisbane for example the buildings are amazing, the detail incredible and everyone is different! They are huge, incredibly old and everywhere. Unless you are in one particular strip of the city Bouchard there really isn't any new buildings to see, they are all the

Metrodance 2007 Buenos Aires originals and it's very interesting as the city has such a rich culture because of this. The other thing here that stands out to me as a huge difference to my home town is the homeless people. Yes, I know we have homeless people in Australia too but it's different here. They are in all the main public areas begging for money I must walk past atleast 20 a day and thats alot it's quite sadening to me to see them always there. They range from elderly single men, mothers with babies, whole families. As you sit on the Subte (underground) they come through begging always. The people of this country suffered terribly as a result of the ecomonic crash and I don't really know enough to comment on it or how it has damaged this country but I can say that it is terrible to see people living this way. I realise that the begging is not the correct way for people to get back on their feet and many people here have worked very hard to get back on their feet after the economic crash, it seems that the people have not had a lot of support from
A lot of people!!!
Metrodance 2007 Buenos Aires the government to do so, again I really don't know enough to say much more though as teh situation in general here is quite a touchy subject with most people. I am not surprised really considering the people of this country lived very different lives before the economic crash with the peso being equal to the US dollar. Well, all that aside and back to the Subte let me tell you about my first Subte experience - First, I was quite afraid to take the subte as we don't have these in Brisbane so I really wasn't too sure what it was that was lurking down those steps under the ground. But, I made it down those steps and bought my ticket had an awful lot of trouble trying to figure out what side I needed to go down in order to get to my destination, but, eventually I got that figured to. Then once aboard the subte I was sitting down when I person entered the carriage and started placing a mini torch of everyone's lap working their way through the carriage. I was a little confused by this, what??? Do they just give out free things on the

Metrodance 2007 Buenos Aires subte??? Wow, I should take the subte all the time I thought!!!! Well, no they don't give out free things they are selling them - once they get to the end of the carriage they return to the begining and start collecting the torches or the money from those whom wish to buy them. Although now I mostly find the crap they insist on putting on my lap annoying I will admit to the occasional purchase of products. Yes, I have been sucked in to the 'well, it's only 2pesos' trap. Ummm, so what else well mostly working, taking Spanish classes, hanging out with friends and going to parties - one thing about Buenos Aires that really stands out is the night life, there is always something to do however people in this country are completly insane!!!! They leave home for the clubs at around 1am - 2am then return 8am in the morning - this is normal and well if you try to go out ealier well there just isn't a whole lot to do! I have visited the Cemetery here in Recoleta which is famous for its amazing tombs - some very, very old and others only 100

Metrodance 2007 Buenos Aires years or so. Filled with the rich and famous it is basically a 'city of dead people'!!!! "Hello would you like to come inside to my tomb and have some Matte" I could here them saying as we walked through. Que mas? CREAMFIELDS this weekend which is really exciting, another party for me! - 90,000 people though so it's going to be crazy I think and also it looks like it will rain tomorrow so the ground will be muddy and I'm sure to come home with 10kgs of mud on my Jeans and Shoes!!!!! Well thats its for me for now plenty more to share with you but it will have to wait until I think more patience to type!!! Hope everyone is well and enjoying life!!! Hugs and kisses to you all love you and miss you lots!!!
