The next stop on our walk, right after the wedding and Pope, was the Ehekarussell or Marriage Fountain. It was built in 1982 to cover the ventilation shaft for the U-Bahn trains underground. When I saw it I assumed it s grotesque statues of writing humans being attacked by snakes, fish, boars and other creatures was from a fairy tale. Gail said it made her feel uncomfortable looking at it.

Today the new X1 would get a breather. So far we had put on almost 500 miles in three days. Nürnberg is the ideal walking city. As usual the day started off with a big breakfast.
