Cat in Largo di Torre Argentina

Largo di Torre Argentina is an old Roman ruin. This sight could be very similar to the many other Roman ruins in Rome if it wasn't for the cats. In one end of the site there is a cat sanctuary. They take care of cats and give them a home.

For a moment I thought you'd posted a collection of cat photos from across your travels! :) I'd heard that 'the authorities' have tried to close down this sanctuary a few times, due to complaints from tourists... but I think it's fabulous that they are off the streets and are well looked after. Plus I'm sure some people would visit the ruins just to see the cats - we certainly would.

Who in their right mind would complain?
I can't understand how anyone can get offended about the cats. As you said, a cat sanctuary is good for the cats and spin off effect is that it draws tourists to this otherwise rather anonymous site. /Ake

Hmmm... collection of cat pics
A blog with only cat pictures would be nice. I like that idea and we might take up on that in the future. As of now we have at least 5 photos of cats in various blog entries. When we have more, 15 or 20 or so, we might repost them all together. It will be many years until we get there though so don't hold your breath. /Ake
