We had a restful night at Chief's Island on Lake Couchiching and woke up to thick fog. It soon lifted enough for us to leave but lingered as we crossed the lake. Lake Simcoe was absolutely calm and clear, it can be very nasty in windy conditions. We spent the rest of the afternoon transiting 6 locks. The first 5 were no more than a mile apart. We are newly retired and ready to cruise! Our 32 foot Cape Island trawler, North Star, will be our summer cruiser in Canada and our 44 foot Marine Trader, Hemingway, is our warm climate cruiser, presently in Florida.
