Icons of Cuba
Very interesting perspective in this blog. I find it fascinating that so many images of Che but a law against constructing statues of Fidel Castro. Makes this pic all the more intriguing. Guess some wish to shout out and preserve his memory!

The law is relatively new
The law against erecting statues of Fidel is relatively new. This "statue" predates it and is likely not affected by it. If I am to guess, and this is entirely a guess, the Cubans will find ways to go around that law and keep on publicly honour Fidel. "But this is not a statue, it is a mural", "But I am not putting up a statue of Fidel, only of his beard" etc. Well, you get it. Ake
