In July of 2011, we made the decision to leave our comfortable jobs in Northern California to see the world. We weren’t sure where we were going to go or how long we would be gone, but we wanted an adventure and we knew we could find it if we looked carefully enough. What a great story, and I adore the moral, "less planning and more surprise." I spent a couple of stimulating weeks in Strasbourg, but my heart will forever belong in Colmar! You are so right about the fairy-tale quality of those half-timbered houses, and the wonderful vineyards and nearby towns for walking and exploring. And I agree about the TGV--it goes too fast for my eyes that love to linger. You were lucky indeed--walking up only to the second floor, the fragrance of a bakery beneath you, and the harvest season in the French countryside. I'm salivating just thinking of it!
