In July of 2011, we made the decision to leave our comfortable jobs in Northern California to see the world. We weren’t sure where we were going to go or how long we would be gone, but we wanted an adventure and we knew we could find it if we looked carefully enough. Yay for global snails!
I love your slow travel, getting to know a place in depth and having a chance to photograph it in various light, which here, look like paintings. Love your bobsled mountain adventure! I visited Bosnia and this area in 2004, when the war was fresh, and the Stari Most had just been rebuilt. I stayed with Muslim families and heard so many sad, horrendous stories, visited so many cemeteries and had to avoid so many mined trails. Still, such a beautiful place and lovely people.

Slooooowly
I had a couple of conversations with locals at our apartment. Even they were not really sure what happened. Things just got out of hand very quickly. Historically and even now this area is known as a place where different cultures have co-existed peacefully. Hopefully things go well for them in the future. They have a great potential.
