Nowadays they are more for show now that the teak forests are protected, but all of the elephants are still trained for work. Ride an elephant and watch them at work and play.

Less than an hour's flight north of Bangkok is Chiang Mai, a wonderful city that has so much to offer. We taxied the short distance from the airport to the centre of town, impressed with just how close the airport is. Our hotel, the Royal Mae Ping is named for the river that flows through the town.
