My colleagues decided to hang out around the hotel. I took my backpack and headed to the hills. It's so rare to find such quietness in China. Serenity, lovely!

"Life couldn't be much better."
How amazing that such a tranquil, beautiful area lies just an 8-hour, gorgeous drive out of crazy Beijing. Brilliant of your school to bond you all together in such a lovely setting. I imagine many of your city colleagues had never been in such a rural setting. I'm with you and love walking the fields and mountains outside of cities. Lately, I've been taking natives from Arequipa, Peru, on my walks--they're shocked that such beauty lies so close. We walkers are the lucky ones.
