The Mammoth Moves On

March 29th 2015
Woolly says – It’s hard to believe that we have now lived in Turkey for over eighteen months. As part of our five year plan – Jo does like a plan – it hadn’t panned out in quite the way we had expected due to circumstances out of our control and I suppose I knew that it couldn’t continue with days of sitting on the balcony, wandering around the harbour or chasing the waves on the beach ... read more

Heading into the unknown
Quite a surprise to read the pub is now for sale and your plans of running it now dashed. Wow. It opens the world up to you now Jo. May the right doors open for you when required without jamming or squeaking.

The Story of Life
Plans never seem to go quite the way we want them but it always leads to another adventure. I'm trying to avoid the jam part as it just means me trying to wash the mammoth and his sticky paws which usually makes him squeak!

All good things must come to an end... (Chaucer, 1374)
So fabulous you got to know Turkey intimately, and I do hope you've had lots of "patlican iman," my fave aubergine dish in all the world! Lovely that you both have great memories of this fab country and know when its time to move on (always a trick for us slow travelers). Plans fall through, yet undoubtedly, your perfect spot will reveal itself in time. Trust--the hallmark of the seasoned traveler/journeyer on the earth. Best wishes and lots of love!

Thank you
Bearing in mind that we are not usually slow travellers (unless were waiting for Woolly to catch up) and our time here has been extended to try and resolve legal issues, but (hindsight being the wonderful thing it is) I'm glad we had the enforced time here, we will miss our home and the wonderful country. We both like that dish but strangely not very keen on aubergines in general, this is our exception to the rule!
