Joshua Tree Sunset

Juniper Tree and Granite Monolith
Finding Out Where the Pavement Ends

I sometimes think of traveling in the United States as being a bit generic. I think of everyone watching the same television shows, eating at the same chain restaurants and watching the same blockbuster Hollywood releases. It seems like you could turn on the radio in most parts of the country and hear the same basic playlists played by DJ’s that have similar sounding voices. Sometimes I think Am ... read more

If you can't beat 'em
yep...join 'em! How lucky are you to pitch your digs just outside Joshua Tree N.P. No excuse for not getting cracker shots as the above testifies. Don't have too good a time...unless you are looking for heaps of TB neighbours!

Perfect heaven!
Your tales and photos make me massively homesick for my beloved Southwest, having spent many summers in Taos and Santa Fe. This photo perfectly captures the beingness and presence of the rocks and trees of Joshua Tree, where I spent my 40th birthday. As you said, many living off the grid and open to possibilities, and wide-open skies painted in bright colors. And how lucky to catch the quaking aspens in their fall golds. What an excellent trip!

Thanks, Tara!
We enjoyed Taos as much as anywhere we have been in the last few years. Every sunset was prettier than the last and such a diverse group of people for such a small town. A real international feeling in a small place. Joshua Tree is similar, but also very different. So far, so good here. Thanks for reading!!!

Thanks!
You can find this is the Jumbo Rocks camping area if you look. I don't remember the number of the campsite that it is near. You might be able to find it on the internet. It makes a good picture.
