The walls built by the Dutch in the 1660s saved the old town from being devastated by the 2004 tsunami while the new town outside the walls was largely destroyed

Sunday 8th December: we checked out of the Laya Safari at 10am for the 100 mile, 3-4 hour, journey to Galle.
