We observed several important differences in the pueblo of Pecos (6,700 ft.) from the pueblo of Tsi-p'in-owinge'. Pecos, derived from the Tewa word "payokona," which means "the place where there is water," was a thriving settlement of about 2,000 people, and was occupied for at least 200 years.
