Yesterday Dan and I spent a few hours walking through a large, woody forest area that is close to his apartment. The trees were amazingly green, the rolling hillsides picturesque and it was quiet except for churchbells ringing in the distance. Underfoot was a dense, soft carpet of old leaves.
