Testing out my desert boots in the desert April 15th 2012 So to San Pedro de Atacama. A small village of around 2000 souls high up the driest desert in Chile at 2,400 meters above sea level. All the houses are adobe type construction of a single storey. I am writing this entry sat in a hammock in the terrace of my accommodation, the Florida Hostel. Dry, hot day. I am a D.V, a desert virgin so I suppose this is typical deserty weather.

After 30 years of policing the streets of Bristol I retired in 2012. I'm settled now as an English Teacher in Ibiza, Spain but the urge to travel has crept up on me again. Having travelled east in 2010 (Vietnam) and south in 2009 (Australia and New Zealand), and West (Chile Bolivia, Peru) in 2012 this time I am heading west to just one country in South America-Colombia.
