Alii ("hello" in Palauan)

This little cockatoo was shy and mute until I sang to him. Soon he was bobbing up and down, swaying side to side, and lifting his head feathers in excitement. When we left he would call out "hello" and when we approached, he would dip his head to the cage edge in hopes of getting his head petted.

Palau - A legendary escape

It’s spring 2010. Expo Shanghai is crowded and hot. Kirsten and I venture into the South Pacific pavilion to escape the crowds and get a taste of island life.
