Denham and Shell beach December 3rd 2011 Reached the small town of Denham by nightfall, fuelled up some petrol at the local service station, we got some freebies in the form of pies and pasties from the owners, people in Denham seemed quite nice to backpackers. I grew up in far North Queensland in a little town called Mareeba, 6000 population, where sugar canes and mango plantations dominate the local landscape. Lived in Cairns, at Parramatta Park for a few years and then moved to the Gold Coast to play tennis.
