On our drive south to San Simeon, we came across the Elephant Seals of Piedras Blancas. My....aren't they an attractive lot? They actually have an interesting story. Prized for their wonderful blubber they were over hunted almost to extinction. In 1990 there were 2 dozen recorded. Now there are five thousand of them.
